Martin Clunes beat Andrew Marr in the battle of the authored documentaries on Sunday, August 24, with his ITV1 show about the history of dogs gaining nearly 6 million viewers.

ITV1's Martin Clunes: A Man and His Dogs attracted 5.7 million viewers and a 25% share in the 9pm hour, according to unofficial overnight figures.

The final episode of Sky1's Gladiators pulled in 587,000 viewers and a multichannel share of 3.6% between 7pm and 8pm.

Over on BBC3, the fourth instalment of Spooks spin-off Code 9 drew 288,000 viewers and a multichannel share of 1.4%.

This was way down on the launch episode of Spooks: Code 9 two Sundays ago, which pulled in 810,000 viewers.
