Twickenham actress Georgia Moffett is due to follow in her dad's footsteps by appearing in the BBC's sci-fi hit Doctor Who.

Georgia Moffett in Doctor WhoGeorgia, the real-life daughter of former Time Lord Peter Davison - is due play the title character Jenny in tomorrow's episode The Doctor's Daughter.

She told Radio Times how her dad, who played the Time Lord in the 1980s, is in shock about her role in the latest series.

"I don't think dad has grasped it yet; I think he's still in shock," Moffett told the magazine.

"Mind you, I don't think he's really grasped the fact that I'm an actress, let alone doing a programme he did 20-odd years ago!"

The 23-year-old, who said she only really started watching the series when her six-year-old son became interested in it, described her character as an "action hero".

She told the magazine: "She starts off not being particularly likeable but by the end she's learnt a lot from her experiences and from The Doctor. She becomes something that he's very proud of."

The actress will appear besides current Doctor David Tennant, Catherine Tate and Freema Agyeman on BBC One at 6.45pm tomorrow.
