Will MellorThe Stockport Citizen reports that filming for White Van Man - the comedy starring Will Mellor and Georgia is filming in and around Cheadle.

The piece is primarily about Will Mellor (who hails from Stockport) and doesn't mention Georgia, however the article mentions eight other cast members, of which Georgia should be one.

The original article was written by Louise Kelly and was published on 26th July 2010.

The newspaper reports:

A BBC comedy drama was filmed at a betting shop in Cheadle. The series called ‘White Van Man’ stars Will Mellor, who is from Stockport and has appeared in Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps and Hollyoaks.

Filming started at 7am on Monday morning at Best Bet Bookmakers at Old Rectory Gardens parallel to Wilmslow Road, Cheadle and lasted all day. Lorries and vans carrying filming equipment and props took over the Old Rectory Gardens, causing passersby to stop and ask what was happening. The series is being produced by ITV Studios but will be shown on BBC 3 in January 2011.

The production team, lead by producer Rohan Acharya, have been using suburban locations throughout the Stockport and Manchester area to create a fictional village for the show. Will said: “I’m from Stockport so it’s nice to be back home and filming up north. I can get my family out to have a look at what’s going on so it’s nice. I’ve been looking forward to this show since last year when it was commissioned.”

Eight cast members and 10 background artists were at the betting shop location in Cheadle ready to start filming. The crew have been filming for three weeks and have got another three weeks left.

Robin from The10GrandCharityChallenge raised over £1000 with his recent TARDIS Project Charity Auction on Ebay, where a picture of the TARDIS drawn and signed by Georgia was amongst the items up for auction.

Robin says:

Hey Everyone,

The TARDIS Project raised in excess of £1000 for Great Ormond Street Hospital and I would like to thank each and every one of you who took the time to look at my auctions, to bid and to buy.  I couldn't do that without your help, so thank you.  If you have a moment, please do check out the website again, http://the10grandcharitychallenge.wordpress.com where you will find loads of Dr Who items up for auction, right now this includes an early draft script of recent episode "Amy's Choice".  In the future, my second Dr Who project will go online, and believe me, it is going to be good!

Anyways, I really just wanted to say thanks to each one of you and to Alan for being kind enough to help promote my auctions.   Have a great day, and remember, together we can make a difference to those who need it.

Best

Please note: The auction has now closed - thank you to those that bid.

Yes - you could be the owner of this original piece of TARDIS artwork drawn by Georgia herself!

The TARDIS Project Auction is online already and is due to end on 6th July 2010. The purpose of the auction is to sell pieces of artwork drawn and donated by celebrities, in order to raise money for Robin's charities.

Don't forget - you have until 6th July if you want to bid for Georgia's TARDIS!

Robin describes the TARDIS Project Auction:

Georgia's TARDIS ArtworkI'd be thrilled if you could come by and have a look at the auctions, and spread the word as far as you can to help raise as much money for this amazing charity as I can!! You can find out more information and find my auctions by visiting http://the10grandcharitychallenge.wordpress.com which carries fundraising updates, and news on my races etc.

The auction is part of my charity fundraising venture, The10GrandCharityChallenge, which aims to raise £10000 for some amazing charities by the end of 2010.  As part of my fundraising I will be running the New York City Marathon this November, and the charity benefiting from this and the TARDIS Auctions is Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.

So far this year, I have donated £3000 to charity, and I look forward to donating even more this month following the completion of The TARDIS Project.

Over 100 celebrities have contributed to The TARDIS Project - a collection of artworks depicting the famous blue phone box from Doctor Who, and among them is the brilliant donation from Georgia.

I am currently auctioning all these artworks (ending 6th July) and I would be thrilled if you could pop by and have a look.  There are loads of amazing contributions, from celebrities as wide ranging as from Sir Ranulph Fiennes to Bernard Cribbens!

Robin at the10grandcharitychallenge describes what the10grandcharitychallenge is:

Having taken part in numerous fundraising events over the last couple of years, I decided to raise the bar a bit higher for 2009-2010.the10grandcharitychallenge aims to raise a minimum of £10000 with three amazing charities (Cancer Research UK, Great Ormond Street Hospital and The Prostate Cancer Charity) receiving donations out of this total by the end of 2010.

The cast of Hens

Georgia is to star in the play "Hens" at The Riverside Studios, from Thursday 17th June to Sunday 20th June 2010.

Written by The Evening Standard's Most Promising playwright of 2009, Alia Bano, Hens explores the relationship between four friends in their twenties on holiday together for a hen night. It looks at the joy, compromises one has to make, the intensity of spending so much time in each other’s company.

During a torrential downpour the four girls are forced to stay in each other’s company in a three star hotel in the centre of Paris, where secrets and antagonisms begin to unravel.  Friendships are threatened and new alliances are formed.

Georgia Moffett in Bridezilla, Leila (Georgia), has come to Paris for her hen do. She wants girlie chats, good food and civilisation. Selina, sister to the groom, doesn’t want to be there, she wants the weekend to blur into a mist of alcohol. Mariam’s come along for the ride and she’s ready to have wild fun. Yasmin wants to rebuild old friendships but it’s not turning out as easy as she thought. Will the hen do get back on track?
