Q&A session with TV & Satellite Week Magazine - published 14th August 2008 PDF Print E-mail

The Spooks: Code 9 star talks about Doctor Who, acting dynasties and confused fans.

Your character,  Kylie, has a lot of action scenes.  How did you prepare for them?

Georgia Moffett as Kylie RomanI don't tend to exercise apart from walking to the shops, but when I was offered the part of Jenny in Doctor Who I knew I would have to get fit, so I did about five months of karate.  That defintely helped when it came to all the jumping, fighting and running across rooftops in Code 9.

Would you return to Doctor Who?

I would go back in a second.  It was a dream part and so much fun.

How about being the first female Doctor Who?

This might annoy feminists, but I think Doctor Who has to be male, not female.  It's like having a female James Bond - it wouldn't work.

If you were the Doctor,  who would be your ideal assistant?

My six-year-old son Ty because he's just got his blue belt in karate.  He's also a huge Doctor Who fan.

Would you want your son to follow you and your parents [Peter Davison and Sandra Dickinson] into acting?

I don't like the idea of a dynasty, but Ty can do whatever he wants as long as he's happy and not still living in my house when he's 35.

Is it true people get you confused with Skins actress Georgina Moffat?

Georgia MoffettAll the time.  I'm Facebook friends with Georgina and we've had a giggle about the whole thing.  I was doing a play once and a guy travelled a long way to see it carrying a massive picture of Georgina.  The poor guy sat through the entire play, clearly thinking I was her then waited for me outside the stage door.

Tell us a surprising fact about yourself

I suck my thumb when I'm tired.  I don't realise I'm doing it but I shouldn't still be doing it at I'm 23.

Is it a good or a bad thing to have been born on Christmas Day?

It was great when I was younger because people took pity on me and bought me loads of presents, but I could never have a party because everyone was busy.  I used to have a party on 4 July so my birthday is now technically 4 July.

What  projects are you currently working on?

I'm filming a Marple, which is something that I've always wanted to do, and it will probably require less action than my recent parts.  Definately no weilding guns this time!
